Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Ascent collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our gaming performance analytics service.

Overview

At Ascent, we are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our gaming performance analytics service.

We believe in data minimization and user control. We only collect information that is necessary to provide and improve our services, and we give you meaningful choices about how your data is used. This policy applies to all users of our application and associated services.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three primary categories: gameplay data, usage analytics, and account information. All data collection is done with your explicit consent and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Gameplay data includes recordings, match statistics, and performance metrics that you choose to capture using our application. This data is stored locally on your device first and is only uploaded to our secure cloud infrastructure when you explicitly enable cloud synchronization features. Gameplay recordings and derived data that you upload to our cloud may be processed and used to operate and improve our service, including the development and training of analytics and AI/ML features. See the "AI and Model Training" section below for details and opt-out information.

Usage analytics are collected through PostHog to help us understand how our application is used and to identify areas for improvement. This includes feature usage patterns, performance metrics, and crash reports. All analytics data is anonymized and cannot be traced back to individual users.

Account information is collected when you create an account with us, including your email address and chosen username. We do not require or collect real names, phone numbers, or other personal identifying information unless you voluntarily provide them.

How We Use Your Data

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve our services. Your gameplay recordings and statistics are processed to generate insights and analytics that help you understand and improve your gaming performance.

We may also use uploaded gameplay recordings and derived data (such as labels, metadata, and statistics extracted from your recordings) to develop, train, evaluate, and improve our analytics and AI/ML features. Further detail and opt-out information is provided in the "AI and Model Training" section.

Anonymous usage data helps us understand which features provide the most value to our users and guides our product development priorities. This aggregated data cannot be traced back to individual users and is used for service improvement purposes.

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and our revenue comes from premium features and subscriptions, not from advertising. We will not share your personal information with advertisers or marketing companies.

Data Protection and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption. Gameplay recordings stored in our cloud infrastructure are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.

Access to user data is strictly controlled and limited to essential personnel who require access to perform their job functions. All access is logged and regularly audited for security purposes. We follow the principle of least privilege, ensuring that team members only have access to the minimum data necessary for their role.

We regularly review and update our security practices to address emerging threats and maintain the highest standards of data protection. Our infrastructure is hosted on secure, enterprise-grade cloud platforms that maintain SOC 2 Type II certification.

Your Rights and Choices

You maintain complete control over your data. You can delete any gameplay recording from your local device or from our cloud storage at any time through the application interface. If you choose to delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems.

You can disable analytics collection, cloud synchronization, AI training on your uploads, and any other data sharing features at any time through the application settings. These changes take effect immediately and do not require account deletion.

You have the right to export all your data in standard formats. We provide tools within the application to download your complete data archive, including all recordings, statistics, and account information. You can also request a copy of your data by contacting our support team.

AI and Model Training

We use uploaded gameplay recordings and derived data — such as labels, annotations, metadata, and statistics extracted from your recordings — to develop, train, evaluate, and improve our analytics and AI/ML features. This includes capabilities such as pattern recognition, automatic highlight detection, event recognition, and performance analytics. Recordings that remain only on your local device and are not uploaded to our cloud are not used for these purposes.

You can opt out of having your uploads used for AI model training at any time through the application settings. Opting out applies to future training; recordings and derived data that have already been incorporated into a training or evaluation dataset may be retained for a limited period for ongoing model development and validation purposes, after which they are removed from active research use in accordance with our retention practices.

To support this work, we may share uploaded gameplay recordings and associated data with trusted third-party service providers, including cloud infrastructure providers, AI/ML model providers, and data labeling partners. These providers act as data processors under contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your data and use it only as instructed by us.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local recordings are stored on your device until you choose to delete them. We do not automatically delete local data, giving you complete control over your local storage.

Cloud-stored recordings are retained for as long as your account remains active, or until you choose to delete them. We provide granular controls that allow you to delete individual recordings or entire categories of data.

If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Some anonymized usage analytics may be retained for service improvement purposes, but this data cannot be traced back to your account.

Third-Party Services

We use PostHog for analytics collection, which helps us understand how our application is used. PostHog processes only anonymized usage data and does not have access to your personal information or gameplay recordings.

Our cloud infrastructure is provided by enterprise-grade hosting services that maintain high security standards and compliance certifications. These service providers act as data processors under our instructions and are contractually obligated to protect your data.

As described in the "AI and Model Training" section, we may share uploaded gameplay recordings and associated data with third-party model providers, infrastructure providers, and data labeling partners that assist us in developing and improving our analytics and AI/ML features. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and process it only on our behalf.

We do not integrate with social media platforms or advertising networks. We do not share your data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and, if you have an account, by sending you an email notification.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of our services after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
